LETSAGO!
Princess Peach's Castle from Super Mario 64. An absolute Hallmark in modern 3D Platforming, Mario 64 is one of my fondest gaming memories, So I wanted to recreate the Entry point for the game, with some small creative liberties to include the Courtyard into one single Diorama.
This is to scale for the most part, using the original model as reference, This is designed to be put together with Little to no Glue and a small amount of elbow grease! No AMS is required, however for Peach's Portrait 4 Filaments are required so a pause between layers to change colours would be fine.
Some Simple instructions are included below, once parts are pushed onto the base, they do NOT like to come back off, so please take your time! Please read the notes for items required and some tips.
Instructions
- Place the Sandy/Dirt Paths down onto the base plates, Push all parts down firmly on a flat surface, they make take some convincing as tolerances are tight!
- Place the Small green hill onto the sandy part, then place the large green grass area.
- Place the Blue Water area.
- Place the Grey Rock areas, There may be a small gap but should be very minimal (between green and rock)
Build the Castle, Dont place it onto the base until all parts are placed onto the Castle.
- Start with the large red Roof part, its tight, push it down with the castle sitting on a flat surface. Follow with the middle Red Roof then the Peak.
- Place the Windows, These should be tight and will sit slightly proud of the castle. All the holes are exactly the same size, however in my multiple test prints I found some small variations in fitment, a small dab of super glue will come in handy if a window isn't sit in firmly.
- Place the Small Red Rectangle in the floor area of the entry, followed by the small brown rectangle as the door. These are tricky, I recommend using a small Allen key or tweezers.
- Place the Large Brown piece with a door cut out to the rear opening, sitting flush with the top of the opening.
- Finally push in the Princess Peach Portrait, I used the back side of my filament cutters, sit the castle facing up on a bench and push down firmly.
- Push the castle into place on the base
- Trees - The Tedious part but probably most satisfying, Take some brown Filament, (approx. 30cm) Push one end into the base of a tree and twist till its in firmly. Now cut the filament at approximately 5-6mm with the flat side down (so as to create a small point on the base of the trunk) then push each tree into place.
- Once all trees are place, push the grey courtyard section into place, followed by the brown wall.
- Place the Green Grassy sections in the courtyard, then the Small Fountain with the Star Statue.
- No place the Remaining parts, The Main Bridge, the wood bridge, the Cannon Hole, The Side Ramps, The Flags and Finally Mario's Pipe.
- Enjoy!
Notes:
- You will need, Filament Cutter, Tweezers or an Allen Key (or Something to push Small Parts in), Possibly a few drips of Super Glue.
- You will also need a length of brown filament for the tree trunks, of approx. 30cm.
- The Pictured Print has the Castle Printed in Marble Filament, Whilst I do like it, White also Looks very good. Also Id recommend a Slightly less Bright green for the Grass, I just didn't have any!
- Peach's Portrait is 4 Layered Colours, Done this way so people without AMS can still print it with pauses to change colours.
- The Trees are fiddly, Since printing mine I have increased the Hole Size for the base of the trees and the trunk holes by .1-.2mm for easier building.
- And I am aware the trees in the courtyard in game are different, I just didn't see a clean way of creating them.
- If you have any questions please send me a message on maker world.
- This took me a lot longer then I expected, I truly hope some people get some joy out of it!
Boost MeBoosts really keep me motivated, Its always appreciated but never expected. Enjoy!
