Hello there!

 

Ikea Tertial is a great desk and workshop lamp with one major flaw - the flimsy mounting. Original one likes to unscrew, twist and break, and efficiently prevents easy arm movement. So i made this simple wall mount that eliminates all of those. Printed bearings grants very smooth and easy rotation of the arm, and wall mounting gives some small extra space around.

  1. First please print the bearings, distance, sleeve, i printed those with 0.2 standard preset and it was good enough for me.
  2. After that print the fitting part with the same settings that you want to print the body, i did it with 0.2 strength preset.
  3. Fitting part has the same dimensions as the body, it's only purpose is for checking if bearings and distance part will fit the body without printing whole part.
  4. If everything fits just right, print the body. I used snugged normal supports for screw holes. Also added some mouse ears, on back corners as those curled slightly on my printer.
  5. Mount it to the wall with something really strong, screws with good 8x65 plugs are ok.
  6. To assembly you want to put sleeve part on the metal end of lamp that is going into the base (if it is deformed and not fitting you need to restore round shape, pliers are helpful with that). Next you should put parts into the body in this order: bearing, distance, bearing (visual help on last picture). When that is done, you just need to stick the end with the sleeve into base with all parts, just straighten the lamp as much as possible and watch out for the wall.
