Small Weekend Project for You and Your Kids: Halloween Door Hanging Decoration - Cat Holding a Trick or Treat Sign
I’ve designed this decoration to be printable on both smaller print beds (220x220 mm) and larger ones (256x256 mm), which many of you might have.
If you have a smaller print bed like mine, you’ll need to print the decoration in two pieces (head and body). After printing, assemble the two pieces using a small cutoff of filament. Heat the filament with a lighter to form a chain link that connects the two pieces, as shown in the photos I’ve provided. Alternatively, you can use a real chain link from an old keychain if you prefer.
If your print bed is 256 mm or larger, you can print the entire cat and sign in one piece using the other file I’ve uploaded.
I’ve designed the decoration so you can print it either the quick way or the cool way. The quick way involves printing the eyes in the same color as the ears, nose, and letters (white). For this, choose the file with the eyes included in the designed item.
For the cool way, print the eyes separately using glow-in-the-dark filament if you have it. Since I don’t have a multicolor printer, I printed the head separately from the eyes. Then, I printed the eyes in glow-in-the-dark filament and glued them to the back of the cat’s head. For this option, choose the file named “HEAD - NO EYES FOR GLOW IN DARK.”
I printed this in PLA with 15% infill at standard speeds, and it turned out great.
Sorry if my explanation wasn’t clear enough. For users with AMS, since I don’t have an AMS, I’m not sure how to set up prints for multicolor. If the STL file isn’t enough, let me know in the comments if you need any other type of file exported.
If you have any questions, leave them in the comments, and I’ll answer them as quickly as possible.
If you like it, give it a like! Enjoy!
