Description
I recently bought a SMÅSTAD loft bed for my son and he loves it. The desk below the bed is set up perpendicular to the bed and there is a slat along the wall on which he wanted to be able to put things, so I agreed to make a shelving unit that can clamp onto that slat so that he can arrange his things on it.
The shelf does not span the entire length of the available space, as the original idea was to have the shelf slide back and forth.
Unfortunately, in this iteration, I decided to make the fit very snug indeed, so it is a very tight fit. I may revisit this design and make a clamping mechanism to accommodate the original request. As it stands my son is very happy with the result and expressed an interest in painting the shelf to match the bed and to cover the seams in the joins. My primary motive fpr this was to make something that was completely 3d printed and fit smoothly with the loft bed.
I have some other projects in the pipeline for this loft bed, that my son has asked for and I'm excited to share them in the near future.
