Description

I started with reddadsteve's White Rabbit model and added a working clock. This version is the same scale as the reddadsteve version, which is about 28 cm tall.

The design uses 12 colors. In the 3MF file, the dial and mushroom tops are printed as 2-color prints, and the rest are all single color prints.

I used PolyMaker PolySmooth Transparent filament for the rabbit's eyeglass lenses. The PolyMaker PolySmooth filaments are PVB, but print with Generic PLA settings. PVB filaments can be sprayed with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) to smooth their surface. But you can use whatever clear filament that you see fit.

To assemble the Rabbit, refer to reddadsteve's instuctions here.

To assemble the watch and base refer to the instructions below.

The watch_bezel parts can be attached using the watch_winder and watch_bezel_shim parts spaced around the watch_middle part to hold the correct spacing between the two watch_bezel parts. Once glued in place the watch_bezel_shim parts can be discarded. Be careful not to glue the watch_bezel_shims in place.

Assembly sequence:

  1. Print the hand_right part.
  2. Install the movement.
  3. Install the magnets and the attach the watch_back. You want the watch_back in place so the hand_right part is at the correct angle when glued.
  4. Slide the watch_bezel_shim parts around so the watch_bezel parts are firmly held by the hand.
  5. Insert the Clock Face.
  6. Make sure that the hand_right part is rotated around the bezel so the fingers fit in the watch_back slot.
  7. Glue the watch_bezel parts and the hand into place. This is easier if you just use a little glue to tack the watch_bezel parts in place, remove the watch_bezel_shims, then add more glue to hold everything permanently in place.

I didn't glue the Clock Face so I could easily get to the nut that holds the movement in place if I ever needed to replace it later. With my print the Clock Face just was held in place by friction with the front watch_bezel part. But you can use double-sided tape to hold it in place if it is too loose.

To avoid support issues, the watch_winder_ring is split into two halves glued together. It then simply snaps into the watch_winder part.

The watch_back cover is removable to make it easy to set the time and replace the clock battery. It is held on by 2 sets of 5x3mm round magnets.

Two minute hands are included; if you want to have a seconds hand, use the hand_minute_w_seconds part and the seconds hand that comes with the Maker's Supply Clock Components Kit-MH011. If you don't, use the hand_minute part.

Note that the adding the clock and battery makes the model front heavy. The Base was added to keep it from tipping over. But it looked sort of empty, so I added the mushrooms. The base is printed in Bambu PLA Basic Mistletoe Green.

The Red and White spotted Mushrooms were done using the Bambu Studio Color Painting feature, then scaled to 100, 50, and 25%. The 2-color mushroom tops take a long time to print, but they are worth it… However, if you don't want to take to time the print the spotted mushroom tops, use the single color mushroom_top file from reddadsteve's Mad Hatter.

I only posted the STL files that I designed, the rest if the STL files can either be exported by Bambu Studio or downloaded from here: White Rabbit.

The 3MF file is for an X1, P1, or A1 Combo, however this design can be printed on an A1-Mini Combo.

On Plate 5 the 3 highlighted parts in the figure above are used as spacers when gluing the front and back rings on to the clock. On the top side of the clock, the winder shaft acts as a spacer, and these pieces can be used as spacers on the right, left, and bottom sides to ensure that the rings are properly spaced.

The filaments that I used in the 3MF file were:

1 Bambu PLA Basic - Bambu Green

2 Bambu PLA Basic - Mistletoe Green

3 Bambu PLA Basic - Jade White

4 Bambu PLA Basic - Black

5 Bambu PLA Silk - Gold

6 Bambu PLA Basic - Red

7 Overture - Light Blue

8 PolyMaker PolySmooth - Transparent

9 Bambu PLA Basic - Yellow

10 Bambu PLA Basic - Brown

11 Bambu PLA Basic - Purple

12 Bambu PLA Basic - Pink

V2 of the 3MF file enables Variable Layer Heights to improve surface quality of the watch_back.
