Description

I designed this adjustable length spacer to facilitate the mounting of furniture items such as kitchen cabinets, bookcases, etc., to solid walls. It’s often advisable to leave a 50mm gap to allow air circulation behind furniture, thus preventing the growth of mold. This spacer is also useful for fixing awkward items like kitchen cabinets, which often have a separation gap between their carcass and the wall.

The spacer has a nominal assembled length of 50mm, +/- 10mm. Simply assemble the two threaded sections together, insert into the gap, and unscrew until a snug fit is obtained. You’ll need a long screw to go through your item and the spacer, and then into the wall (use suitable wall anchors). Screws up to 6mm in diameter can be used. I've also included an extension piece, which adds 15mm to the maximum length if needed.

For this print, I recommend using a robust filament such as PETG. However, it should work just as well with almost any filament, except flexibles like TPU. I used 3 walls and 40% infill. The spacer is in compression, so it plays to the physical strengths of 3D printing.
