Description

This is a 1:25 scale model of the famous Fat Man atomic bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan on 9 August 1945. “Little Boy” and the other atomic bomb “Fat Man” are thought by historians to have brought about an end to the war in the Pacific and thus an end to WWII. The bands of black were a liquid asphalt substance that was painted onto the bomb in 1945 to seal the metal seams. The silver protrusions at the front of the bomb that look like paperclips are radar altimeters that would bounce radio waves off the ground to determine the height to detonate.

This model snaps together for easy assembly – no glue is required.

( ! ) Do not sell my prints — I have not authorized selling prints.  If you sell my prints on Etsy, Amazon, eBay, etc, I will find out.

Bambu filaments used were:

  • Matte Latte Brown for the body (can be replaced with any yellowish/mustard colored filament to be accurate to the real bomb)
  • Matte Black for the stripes/bands (which on the real bomb were liquid asphalt to seal the metal seams)
  • Silk Silver for the radar altimeters (looks like a paperclip)
  • Metal Black and Basic Light gray for the stand and sign

Here's a diagram to help assemble the model:
