A1 Stock Spool Side Holder Adaptor For Spacesaving

The Original Spool holder that come with the A1 is great, but it increases the footprint of the printer by quite a lot vertically and i unfortunately have limited space.

I have seen a lot of new spool holders but none is this position and i don't understand why. This adapter mount is designed to fit and locate on the Z axis rails using the two screw holes already there, and to reuse 2 of the 4 screws from the X axis packaging locks that are removed during assembly of the printer.

This Adaptor allow the stock spool holder to fit well within the printer footprint and only increase it by 15mm from the side profile as shown in the images. The stock PTFE tube also still works even mounted over the top rail… just, its tight, so i would pass it under, but if not it's not a issue, it wont limit the print head reach.

Mirrored Version:

If you want to use this but mount of the otherside behind the poop shoot, there is also a mirrored version attached, the only difference been than you will have to remove the 1 screw in the behind the PTFE tube and unscrew the holder, remove the rubber bungs  and flip the parts so its two bars are also mirrored and so they don't interfere with the print bed and access with be from that side.

There is now a profile with the mirrored part attached for easier download and printing. 

I've also been made aware that there is a version of the spool holder that can not have the sides swapped, so please see the photos for reference, as you need the one with the screw in and out holder bar.
