SLICEASE - The Food Dividing tool

 

What is it?

This is the Slicease, it's a dividing tool and bottle opener, basically a handy kitchen gadget for parties.

 

How to use.

It's simple to use, just take the stowed legs out and insert into the 3 holes for pizzas, or just use the centre leg for cakes and stick it right in the middle.

1. Cut you first line along the the Slicease name, and then cut along the number that you require.
2. Rotate the tool, so the name side is along the last cut, and cut your number again.
3. Repeat and rotate until it's all cut up into the correct amount.

Now, some might point out there isnt 2 or 8 slices or even 15, but all these numbers are divisible by a number on the tool, so simple halve use the closest number then halve the resulting pieces to get the amount.

 

Bottle Opener?

Obvious really.

 

 

Is it a failed kickstarter?

This was listed back in 2016 and was the Mk2 version which was designed to be injection moulded for mass production.

The funding failed so i was never able to get a full production prototype, and get backing from parties in the industry as the reality of small items like these, they need to be manufactured for less than penies to be comerically successful.

 

 

So now you can just print it!

Disclaimer

I am fully aware that food items should not be printed, prints are porous and trap bacteria as well as can introduce microplastics into the human diet. 

My recommendation is that if possible clean the prints as soon as possible when have been used, or better still dispose of the legs after contact with food, as these are the most likely to be dirty.

Also print with as high as possible tolerance to avoid gaps for food remains to gather and bacteria to grow.

In theory there shouldn't be an issue as you are not eating from the device, it's just that there may be contamination from use to use and i feel that its better to be upfront about these things. 

If you can find a suitable alternative for printing please let me know, this print was originally designed to be made from food safe injection moulded plastic, so i can only advise.
