Cherry MX Keycaps

These keycaps were designed as part of my micro planck keyboard project which is also listed on Maker World. This set of keycaps contains the follwing features:

• 47 unique keys to allign with the custom planck layout of the micro planck 3D printable keyboard
• Easy structure to print which results in a clean finish and highly readable faces
• Slightly narrower and shorter than standard keycaps to work with tight and low profile keyboard layouts

Printing

I would highly recommend printing these with a 0.2mm nozzle to achieve the best level of detail and highest quality finish. I personally prefered the smooth PEI plate, although they also produce great results from a textured PEI plate too. I would also recommend printing the body of the keycap colour first, and the label second. This gives the cleanest finish for small lines, but does mean that some of the finest details can be lost.

Plates

I have split this model into 4 different plates:

1. The full keycap set (minus the space bar) if you don't want a split colour design
2. The “outer” keys, with a blue body in the model image
3. The “inner” keys, with a white body in the model image
4. The space bar, printed standing to allow for a smooth concave body

I am considering making a customisable keycap editor so that people can design their own custom keycap legends, so if you would be interested in this please leave a comment and if it is a popular idea then I will start looking into that for my next project.
