Solo in Carbonite Lamp

UPDATE 07/04/2025: Version 2.0 has now been uploaded and will replace the old files and print profiles. Complete redesign of the lamp stand to add more stability. For those wanting to use the optional magnets to secure the carbonite unit to the lamp there is now a triangular array of magnets to add stability and make the whole model more sturdy. A small shelf has been added so the base of the carbonite unit is now supported, so whether you use magnets or just glue, the unit will be securely held in place. Other changes include small detailing on the lamp and to Solo himself, larger base including larger pins to hold the bottom plate/grill in place.

UPDATE 04/04/2025: Updated the profiles to make it easier for Bambu Handy app users. Parts that require a 0.2mm nozzle have now been separated out into their own profile.

UPDATE 10/01/2025: If you have downloaded the profile or STL files since the update on the 20/12/2024 then please re-download them as there were some issues with some of the parts.

UPDATE 20/12/2024: Edited certain parts so that the main carbonite section can be attached to the lamp section using 5mm x 2mm magnets. Slight size increase to the carbonite parts (including controls) so that the proportions of the whole model match better.

Introduction

I had a spare Bambu Lab Lamp kit lying around and was looking for something to design for it. After watching Empire Strikes Back (again!) I came up with the idea for recreating the scene in the movie where Han Solo is frozen in Carbonite!

Model Details

Han Solo in carbonite lamp uses the LED Lamp Kit from Bambu Labs (you can also use the RGB version from AliExpress) to create this cool looking desk lamp. Really easy to assemble, the only thing you will need is some glue to connect certain parts together.The files are spread across two profiles. One profile for parts that need a 0.4mm nozzle and another profile for the parts that require a 0.2mm nozzle.

The light source is the LED Lamp from Bambu Labs and to get the red effect I used some red acetate (again, you can also use the RGB version from AliExpress). For the sliver/pewter and rust effect on Han Solo and the various pipes etc, I used Silver/Pewter Leaf Rub n Buff, Spanish Bronze Rub n Buff and a small sponge applicator.
