1/8 Scale M829A4 120mm Sabot Round

This is a highly-detailed 1/8 scale model of the U.S. M829A4 APFSDS-T (Armor Piercing, Fin Stabilized, Discarding Sabot with Tracer) round for the M1A2 SEPv2 and SEPv3 Abrams Tank. This is the latest and greatest anti-tank round fielded by the U.S. Army. It features a depleted uranium long rod penetrator that runs nearly the entire length of the cartridge case.

I designed this using measurements taken from a full-size dummy round, along with a little bit of interpolation from images due to the fact that I don't have a real M829A4 laying around. It can be printed without supports if necessary, but I recommend enabling normal snug supports to make the top of the sabot petals look good. Be sure to disable “on build plate only”. The print profile and the .3mf are both pre-separated for easy AMS painting. The one-piece .stl file also has tiny cuts to allow it to be painted, it will just take a bit more work. These cuts will not show up on the printed model should you decide to print in a single color. The primer and ammunition data link rings on the bottom are not precut due to their size, but are easy to paint in the slicer. If you are coloring the primer and ADL, ensure you check “only one wall on first layer” for best results.

Proper colors are as follows:

- Stub Base/Aft Cap and Penetrator Tip: Silver-gray

- Primer and ADL: Gold

- Rear Obturator/Rubber Seal and Sabot Petals: Black

- Cartridge Case: White or Light Silver (It's actually silver, but appears more white in photos)

- Forward Obturator/Nylon Seal: White

I printed the examples in the pictures in 4 colors using Bambu Matte White, Bambu Matte Charcoal, Giantarm Silk Silver, and Overture Silk Gold. The base of the model looks great printed with a 0.2mm nozzle, but the difference is almost impossible to see anywhere other than the base.
