Description
11/21/2024 UPDATE:
Well, you asked for it, and I gave it a try... You all were right – this really completes the collection!
Here's the whole family:
This design is a larger version of my popular M4 “Mac mini Pro” enclosure, this time sized for the M1 and M2 Mac Studio form factor. A happy side effect is that this should also allow the M1/M2 Mac mini to fit as well – I will need to provide a basic spacer to make up the height (stand by).
Note, this is a considerably larger print, and now requires a 256mm-class bed size (P1S, P1P, X1C, A1 etc). It may also be somewhat challenging to avoid warping due to its size. I will put together some recommendations on how to best mitigate this.
The slightly different aspect ratio of the Mac Studio actually makes this an easier print in terms of orientation, as it is now more appropriate for the Mac to slide into the enclosure from one of the flat sides rather than from the back. The result is a shorter print with fewer necessary supports. I provide a simple cover for the opening in the side, so that the Apple logo can remain upright.
Provided initially in this release is just the feet and printed wheels – I will adjust the design for a new ball-bearing (size 6902-2RS) shortly.
Boost MePlease consider boosting my projects -- it really supports my ongoing design efforts on these and other works, like my work on the Modular Wind Tunnel for STEM Education (available at Printables).
11/20/2024 UPDATE
If you intend to print this with wheels (printed or bearing-based), please hold off for another day or two. I am currently working on tweaking the wheel fitment and tolerancing. The next version I upload will include ball-bearing wheels that (1) fit better than the 11/17 upload and (2) rotate around their axes like proper casters (likely using a thrust bearing in the main-case body). This is coming along but still needs another couple design iterations – thanks for your patience.
