Description

This is our newest airless basketball filament made specifically for use with the BIQU PLA-HR filament: (https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1890927&u=4425865&m=118144&urllink=&afftrack= ). With the right print settings, this basketball should meet the NBA regulations and requirements for size and weight. Watch our 3D printing video here:

I have been testing many different filaments to see which ones make the best airless basketballs. You can follow our most up-to-date testing on our YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@makeitlabchannel.

 

For this filament, I highly recommend a filament dryer (I use this one: https://amzn.to/4k50TUl) and a printer bed glue stick for both bed adhesion and as a release agent when the basketball is done printing: https://amzn.to/3ALWcxK.

 

 

BIQU PLA-HR printing settings:

 

Printer used: Bambu Lab P1S

 

Nozzle temperature: 230C

 

Bed temperature: 55C (textured PEI)

 

Nozzle size: 0.6mm is highly recommended. You can use a 0.4mm nozzle but it might not bounce quite as well.

 

Layer height: 0.18mm for a 0.6mm nozzle or 0.16mm for a 0.4mm nozzle.

 

Walls: 5

 

Infill: 100% concentric

 

Printing speed: 40 mm/s (20 mm/s for bridges)

 

Flow rate: 6mm^3/s

 

Supports: Manually painted on the bottom of the basketball only using Bambu Studio – video on how to do this here: https://youtu.be/L7AP0ahJMyo

 

Part cooling fan: 100%

 

Auxiliary cooling fan: Between 70% and 100% with 100% recommended.
