Poor Man's AMS (Manual AMS a.k.a. Man Powered AMS aka AMS Liter)

 

New printers have filament holders with no thread. this model is for the threaded ones!!

 

With this MOD you can have something that works and stores spools like the AMS. The only difference here is that you are the motor and you need to change the filaments when you get a notification from the Bambu Handy app. :) But with this solution, changing filaments is way more quicker becasuse the filament is already inside the tube and you just need to move it a couple of centimeters.

 

Description:

• I realized that the spool holder can be mirrored to hold 2 spools.
• If I secure 2 spool holders as far as possible they can hold 4 spools.
• In order to be able to insert a spool into any of the middle slots without removing the whole spool holder, I shorten the horizontal bar. It still holds the spools perfectly but removing and inserting is much easier now.
• You can buy the Filament holder and the PTFE Tube Connectors (links below) but you can't buy the extra horizontal bar so I had to remodel it.
• You can still use the longer version if you need a replica or if you just planning to use one spool holder that can hold 2 spools.
• I recommend adding the Z-Axis Stiffener to the printer so its sturdy and doesn't lean backwards.
• You have the option to just print the stiffener and the horizontal bars and have a nice storage on your A1 without buying any other parts but for the delux version I linked below all the parts you need.
