This custom-designed activated carbon air filter serves as a cost-effective alternative to the original Bambu Lab filter. Simply refill with carbon pellets for continued use.

Design Features

Use added print profile with pre-defined settings!

This model “hacks” some slicer settings to produce honeycomb grid for the box and top lid.

Printing Specifications

Print using heat-resistant filament only:

• Recommended: ASA, ASA-CF, ASA-GF, ABS, ABS-CF
• Optional: PETG, PLA, PLA-GF

Carbon Pellets

For optimal VOC filtration and printer safety:

1. Source Material
   • Required: Virgin coconut-based carbon
   • Avoid: Wood, bitumen, charcoal, or other alternatives
2. Technical Specifications
   • Microporosity ratio: <1nm for optimal VOC capture
   • Iodine count: >1000 (indicates suitable micro/mesoporosity)
   • Hardness: >95% (minimizes dust generation)
3. Processing Method
   • Required: Steam activation
   • Strictly avoid: Acid-washed carbon (can cause printer oxidation)

3D printing generates Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) that pose significant health risks, including potential carcinogenic effects. Proper filtration is essential for safe operation.

Recommended Carbon Source

Nevermore premium carbon is strongly recommended due to:

• Proven safety record in Voron, Annex, and other 3D printing communities
• Superior filtration performance
• Verified quality standards

While more expensive than generic alternatives, it provides optimal protection and reliable performance.

Note: Future developments may include blended neutral/alkaline KOH carbon solutions, though currently unavailable from verified manufacturers.
