The lid holds the gears in place and does snap onto the lower handle but I would suggest gluing the lid down, otherwise you have to make sure its seated after every pull (and run the risk of it popping off and throwing the gears out)
Hopefully yall enjoy it as much as I did!
Side Note- The gears and rip cord have a fairly tight tolerance, it can be difficult sometimes to insert the rip cord (especially on a fresh print, but it does wear in after a bit of use). It also seems like different filaments effect the degree of difficulty and friction of how the gears move. I had the best experience with a basic PLA & a silk PLA. Any filaments that print with a bit of texture will not work well.
