Brick Star Wars Lightsaber

I've been watching Star Wars films with my son recently, and he's been wanting a lightsaber just like mine. I have a full-size, fully functional Darth Maul lightsaber, but it's too long and heavy for him (he's only three). You can see how he's holding it. 

So, I designed a BRICK lightsaber based on the Motion-Activated Sound and Light Props Kit used for the Black Myth: Wukong staff weapon. The light strip in this kit is shorter than those found in commercial lightsabers, but I found that this proportion is perfect for a BRICK lightsaber. The size and weight are just right for kids. Additionally, by using a 3D printed blade, I was able to perfectly recreate the cylindrical shape of a BRICK lightsaber, with a flat, rather than pointed, end. 

This kit supports two blades, so I designed both a single-bladed and a double-bladed lightsaber, requiring only one part to be changed to switch between the two forms.

I adjusted the thickness of the blade and chose to print it in PLA Basic Jade White for its strength. For the handle, I recommend using PLA Basic Silver or another PLA Basic material. I do not recommend using the Silk series, as while it has a more cinematic appearance, it is weaker. I broke two of them during testing. I also found that this kit's motion sensing is a bit more sensitive than my commercial lightsabers, which is a plus for kids. After all, kids don't need to swing as hard to activate the sound effects.

Although this was originally designed for my son, I've found that the shorter length makes it perfect for deskside play, without the risk of accidentally hitting my computer screen. By turning off the sound using the app, the lightsaber can be used as an ambient light, although that might be a bit extravagant! LOL. The only downside to this kit is that the included aluminum rod is no longer needed.
