Hello,
for those that don't know my ‘insert philosophy’ - I am creating modular inserts that are focused on reducing setup and space on table, filament consumption is not my highest priority, but of course I'm trying to save some material where I can.
Update 28.05.2024 - version 2.0:
- added one holder for expansion content - it goes to expansion box (either one) and holds 2 expansions,
- I replaced ALL the files, that is pretty massive update, old files are in Version 1 archive. I did that to reduce filament consumption, improve teardown and remove the need for magnets. If you printed old version and mostly like it, but want to upgrade one or two things, here is what you can upgrade without the need to print all again: card holders, character dashboards, minis holder,Â
- around 70g lighter - previous version with my current settings - 720g, new version - 650g (or 830g including insert for expansion),
- 27 models resulting in 31 items in 1st version vs 23 models resulting in 27 items (but substracting covers - 23 → 19, 27 → 23), insert simplified a bit, resulting in easier teardown,
- card holders updated and some of them combined - it's faster to take everything out of the box and a lot easier to put it back,
- added covers for resources, tokens, minis holders,
- character dashboard still has bridges, but there's additional space for them to sag, so no supports needed - in worst case you will need to sand it down a little,
- removed magnets resulting in cheaper insert, without the need to glue magnets,
- build plate requirement increased - at least 237 x 111 (although you can lower it to 220 if you rotate card holder) or 237 x 237 for expansion holder,
- replaced description and photos.
Â
Important Notes:
- Clearence for holder covers is very small - 0.2mm horizontal. Please print the smallest holder and cover for it to check if it fits, if not you may need to calibrate printer or enlarge cover a bit (adding 0.2-0.4mm to the width in the slicer should be enough).
Supports:
- vertical storage,
- Tales of the Ruined City, Days of the Siege expansion,
- sleeves 70 micron - this is mainly designed for 70 microns sleeves (I use Sloyca).Â
This insert features:
- character holders - serves as a status tokens and color token holder in the box, during the game there is space for character card and few tokens (like for example pistol),
- card holders - each deck has it's own space, during the setup you only need to take holders from the box and put them on the board,
- tokens holder - one holder (with "shelf") for all market tokens. Large ones have separate space, small ones are have common space,
- resource holder - for dices (even Rubble Dice) and resources. There is also shelf, that you can use during the game as your storage and you can also use it for saving game - storing here all your resources, tokens,
- minis holder - for minis (and I also store here empty tokens), they're loose but thanks to cover - they should be secure,
- 2 save card holders - for saving the game + can be used during the game for storing unknown and discard cards,
- other holder - for time, planks, cold, enemy, scenario tokens.
Requirements:
- about 650g for core box, 180g for expansion holder, (depends on your settings, I printed with 15% gyroid infill, 2 walls, 5 top and 3 bottom layers),Â
- at least 237mm x 111mm print bed for core (220x220 if you rotate card holder), 237x237 for expansion holder.
Instructions:
Supports - no supports required (there are 2cm bridges, there is room for them to sag, in worst case you can sand it down or use supports).
- every file ended with xX (for example x16) - print X times (in given example - 16 times),
- card holders - there are holes, 1 hole, 2 holes, 3 holes, 4 holes - they represent columns and which card holder should go to which column in the box. Regarding what should go first - look for largest holders that have flat bottom - they're going on the bottom of the box. Next look for other 2 combined holders - they're going next. And lastly - single card holders,
- refer to pictures how to organize the box.
What future holds:
- The core insert is done, I don't think I will come back to it.
- The expansion insert may receive update, but that's way ahead in the future.
Enjoy!
