Print this cute Mushroom Ornament and put it together. Fun for kids and any mushroom enthusiasts! This AMS (optional) multicolor model creates *ZERO WASTE due to it's component model that you get to assemble. The stem threads into the cap making it super easy, no glue required. Prints on one plate in about 4 hours for the Ultra HQ version. Turning off fuzzy skin on the cap saves about an hour if you're pressed for time! Up close the fuzzy skin does a good job of hiding layer lines, though.
Enjoy my 3D design take of the easily recognizable Fly Agaric (Amanita Muscaria) on your Christmas tree or free standing wherever you choose. There is a small hole at the top for a string or wire to pass through. I've even included a small anchor to hook your string/wire too which should work without having to tie a knot. See pictures.
This model was designed using Bambu Lab Basic PLA and also tested with eSun PLA+. Using other filaments, especially if they are not calibrated or dried properly may lead to issues with tolerances for the “warts” that you pop into the top of the cap. The threads on the stem and cap have a good amount of tolerance and shouldn't cause issues.
Boost MeIf you enjoy my very first original model please send me a boost to help me keep designing cool new things! Please note that I have not tested scaling the model up or down. I don't see an issue with making it bigger, but smaller may cause issues as the gills are already very delicate. I plan to upload a smaller version but will first need to reduce the gill count in the design.
My main goal with this design was to make a semi-realistic “cute” mushroom model without wasting a ton of filament. My printing ethos makes efficiency a top priority and in this case I think we can enjoy something far more refined without any of the waste! I hope my model resonates this with you.
Please see the assembly guide pictures and text below.
(Optional for Ornament use)
Pass two ends of a loop of string/wire/fishing line though the top hole in the mushroom cap. Send each end through one of the holes on the pointy end of the new threaded string clamp. Thread the clamp into the base of the cap pointy end first and tighten with a large flat screwdriver while keeping the ends of the string protruding slightly from the bottom of the clamp. Secure tightly and test to make sure the string doesn't pull through. You may have to back off and re-tighten the clamp.
*Filament swaps just once from white to red. .32g of flush!
**If your printer is unable to produce the tolerances within reason the warts may be difficult to insert, or may be easy to remove/fall out if you drop the model. Please be aware of this for your children and pets. There is a second print plate with just the warts if you wish to scale them bigger or smaller by probably 2-3% to adjust them.. Or, use a drop of glue…
