Description
This is a simple model of an old wall hanging Rotary Phone converted into a clock!
Comes complete with a 3D printed phone cord and detached handset. However, while the phone cord does stretch a bit (I just used PLA), it is not 100% flexible like old phone cords used to be!
My model was printed using 100% PLA, supports are needed for the phone base and cord.
Be VERY careful when removing the supports from the phone cord as I went through several revisions and wasted prints before I arrived at the cord included with this model!
The Clock Face does require some super glue if you wish to attach the (red) dial stopper to add this little rotary phone detail.
I tried to print this with support, but it ended up being too difficult to remove as I really wanted it to float above the clock numbers.
When assembling this part from the Bambu Labs clock kit, I did place the rubber washer between the phone base and clock face to help keep the clock face from spinning around too much. The washer and nut were just placed on top of the clock face before being tightened down.
The cord is simple, and just plugs into the phone base & handset. Mine did not require glue, just use caution when plugging the cord into both ends!
For the Handset, just print & screw in the large round speaker and mic ends! Be sure when you screw in the mic side, to leave the hole for the phone cord facing out so it is easy to plug in the cord!
I did have to up the Handset strength to 4 walls as I kept braking the threads off the mic end when screwing it into the handle. PETG might be needed for the Handset if you want it a bit stronger during assembly.
The mechanics for the clock were obtained from the Bambu Labs MH011 Clock Kit, so be sure and pick one up!
I am excited to see what color combinations people come up with for their prints!
