Pull-Out Christmas Card: Gift Card & Meme Inserts

This is a Christmas card with a twist that you can give to your friends and family. The card is designed with an insert that can be pulled out to reveal the contents. It comes with two inserts: one featuring an old meme joke and another with a gift card compartment. It's designed to be printed on both AMS and non-AMS devices.

The Gift Card Insert

All gift cards in the world use the same standard size, which is the exact same as a regular ATM bank card. This means you can give someone a gift card in a special way this year.

 

The Christmas card is printed in three pieces: the rear side with slots for the chosen insert, and the front side that slides into the provided slots and pushes all the way in.

 

If you want to secure the card so it cannot be opened (during transport or handling), you can glue the front to the rear on both sides as shown in the photo. There are two grooves on both sides, so when you apply super glue (CA glue) across the provided faces, the surplus glue has somewhere to spill, preventing it from messing up your card.

 

Assembly

1. Choose the insert you would like to use.
2. Place the insert in the corresponding slot on the rear piece of the card.
3. Apply super glue to the faces on the left and right sides with the grooves.

    5. Take the front of the card and slowly slide it into the corresponding slots on the rear piece, allowing the glue to spill into the grooves. Push the front until the end and press firmly for a few seconds to ensure the super glue bonds. Enjoy!

 

Printing Setup

For Bambu users, I have created print profiles for both users with AMS and without AMS.

 

For Other Users

Settings for the Front:

• Slice the FRONT STL to pause at layer 7. Start the print with red filament. When the printer stops at layer 7, manually switch to gold/white and resume printing.

Settings for the Insert:

• Slice the INSERT STL to pause at layer 4. Start the print with black filament. When the printer stops at layer 4, manually switch to gold/white and resume printing.

Speed Settings:

• Walls: 120 mm/s (don't go faster due to small details).
• Infill: 200-250 mm/s.
• Infill Percentage: 100% (so the insert inside the card is not visible through the front).
