Description
Here is my take on a printable yo-yo. I wanted a butterfly style yo-yo with a bearing to allow for better spin.
I designed this mostly for a metal 625 bearing, it will certainly work better that way, but if you don't have one handy. There is an included model of a printable 625 bearing that works too.
You'll need a 20-25mm long M3 screw to assemble. There are three different models for the versions, one is opened up to allow a 3mm screw to pass. That side is paired either with a side that uses an M3x5x4 heatset or a side that is undersized to allow the screw to self tap. I am using the heatset versions to allow for more reliable disassembly and reassembly.
This ends up being a reasonably light yo-yo so I would print this with plenty of perimeters for when it crashes into something and I would use modifiers to print the outer 6mm or so of the rim with 100% infill to get a little extra inertia. I've included an 3MF that shows how I did that for my prints.
I also recommend printing with partially bridged counterbores enabled in your slicer, or adding in designed bridges for the counterbores.
