Wago 221-413 T-connector

Introduction

To create a fairy light with the Planet Lamps from the Solar System Lithophane Mobile Collection I needed to wire E14 sockets in parallel. For this purpose, I designed these Wago 221-413 T- and L-connectors. The L-connectors can be used as the end pieces of a light chain, while the T-connectors serve as intermediates.

BOM:

• 2x Wago 221-413 Connectors
• 8x threaded inserts M3
• 8x M3x8 BHCS screws
• 3x 2-wire lamp connection cables, 0.75mm²

Printed Parts:

• 1x Wago T-connector or L-connector top
• 1x Wago T-connector or L-connector bottom

Assembly:

To ensure electrical safety, the T-connectors MUST provide a strain relief! They do so by squeezing the wires slightly when tightening the two connector shells. The tolerances of the wire holes are key for this! The files I provide work well for the wires I bought, but they may not work for yours!

You may have to measure the width and height of your wires and modify the connectors accordingly. What worked for me, was to create a hole with the shape of the wire but with 0.5mm less space for the smaller wire dimension. For this purpose, I provided step files to be edited in CAD software and .3MF files with pre-placed negative volume cylinders. Change the dimensions of the cylinders to obtain correct holes.

• Measure your wires and modify the print files accordingly!
• Insert the threaded inserts with a soldering iron
• Remove about 30-40mm of insulation and strip your wires
• Insert them into your Wago connectors (wire colors must match!)
• Insert the Wago connectors into the printed files
• Ensure correct positioning of your wires
• Close the lid and screw in all 8 screws
• Make sure that the wires are held tightly by pulling them. They must not move! Additionally, they should not be pinched!

Additionally, with no relation to the Wago connectors), I created the Solar System Lithophane Planet Lamp Collection. All of the lamps above (and some more) are available in 205mm x 205mm x 195mm, including their own lamp bases.
