This is an Insert for the base game of the boardgame SETI from CGE.
Insert for base game + space agencies expansion available here!
I recently started with the 3d printing hobby and found that I really enjoy the process of designing inserts. While I was designing this, a few other great options were published. So this is just another take on how to organize this game. Hope you enjoy.

About the design:
Language neutral
Compatible with premium sleeves of up to 100 micron. Thicker sleeves might not fit, I did not test. If you use thinner sleeves or no sleeves at all, I recommend using the alien trays in the variants profile that have a wall to avoid cards falling out.
Compatible with energy & credit token upgrade here
Supports vertical storage
I tried to prominently showcase the amazing card art
Cards tray can go directly on table during play for card draw
Individual 2 piece trays for each alien with slide and click mechanism
Individual player trays with slide and click mechanism (during play, frame lid can be stored by sliding it on the underside of tray)
2 resource trays with lid (lid also fits under tray during play)
Technology trays go directly on the board
Alien boards fit on top of solo tray
Player board go on top of setup and solo trays.
About the print profile:
Tested for PLA on P1S 0.4 nozzle and 0.2mm layer height.
Prepared for optional multi color print with AMS. All pictures on the trays are modeled, not painted. They are exactly 0.8mm (4 layers) deep. So if you are performing single color printing, you can turn them into negatives in the slicer to get an embossed effect.
Some trays need support. Settings for support is prepared for each individual part.
Setup tray variant compatible with custom rotation markers like this excellent model from JohnRocks. The total combined height of the rotation markers must not exceed 12.4mm, and their diameter must not exceed 31mm.
Alien tray variants featuring a reverse sliding mechanism and a built-in wall to prevent cards from sliding out. I recommend this if you use sleeves that are thinner than 100 micron or no sleeves.
Feb 09 2025:
Added solo tray variant compatible with A1 Mini.
Aug 10 2025:
Increased all mixed color layers from 3 to 4 layers in thickness to improve color opacity. Some filaments are too transparent with only 3 layers. This did not increase the number of layer changes necessary so there is no increase in print time.
SETI Variants V1.2 Profile Update:
Corrected color scheme of solo tray which was missing white and teal layers.
Added walls to solo tray halves.
Corrected corner rounding of alien card trays.
Nov 08 2025:
Small correction: removed rounded corners on the bottom of Exertians token tray.
Nov 18 2025:
After much deliberation I decided to change the alien card tray orientation to print without internal supports. A lot of people were having trouble with removing the supports so I decided to change the standard profile. I think for me the original orientation still produced the best results in the finish of the parts but I understand that this is not worth the hassle for most. As a result I did have to change the color scheme of the parts so unfortunately they do not fully match the pictures. But I still think they look cool :)
Nov 28 2025:
Main V1.31, Variants V1.31 - Added Brim to Exertian and Variant card holders to avoid it falling over during printing.
Feb 15 2026:
Main V1.4, Variants V1.4 - Improved support of alien card trays to improve print stability.
