The Lord of the Rings Inspired Barad-Dûr Ashtray

Barad-Dûr Ashtray – A Lord of the Rings-Inspired Piece for Smokers

I created this for a friend who is a huge fan of both 420 culture and The Lord of the Rings, this Barad-Dûr-themed ashtray combines functionality with fandom. The ashtray includes eight notches angled to keep the cherry/ember of a cigarette/joint safely away from the tower centerpiece, ensuring its durability.

Inspired by a previous model, I modified the geometry for improved functionality and strength:

• Closed the hole at the top of the tower
• Reinforced the internal structure of the tower for better durability
• Created a new tray base with 8 notches
• Merged the tower seamlessly with the new tray base
• Added four 12.5mm circular cutouts at the bottom of the tray to accommodate small rubber feet, enhancing stability and preventing slippage

Materials Used:

• Inland PLA Black for the tower/tray and pupils.
• Bambu Lab PLA Basic Orange for the iconic Eye of Sauron.

Assembly Instructions:

• I assembled the eye by super gluing the pupil and eyeball parts together.
• I used hot glue was used to attach the finished eye to the tower securely.
