Description

Introducing Tony, the low poly triceratops. Print this design and put it up on the mantel as a conversation starter for friends, so you can tell them once more the story about that time you were face to face with a triceratops. Designed as a magnificent decorative hanger with invisible mount. This model comes to live using the full 256mm x 256mm potential of your printer's build plate (A1 mini not complatible)

The model is split over 4 plates, pieces are joined with snap-lock swallowtail connections that create a nearly seamless low poly surface. Warning: once snapped in place, the pieces are very hard to take apart again.

Filament used in the pictures: Bambu PLA Galaxy Nebulae

Screw requirements:

  • 3 non-countersunk screws
  • max head diameter of 7mm
  • recommended screwthread diameter of 4mm
  • screw length of at least 30mm
  • use plugs for 6mm drillholes

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY

This print requires a very big commitment: 950g filament and 3 days 12 hours of print time on high quality with layer height 0.08

Precautions:

  • Avoid warping:
    • Clean your build plate before you start printing and in between plates for optimal adhesion
    • These profiles require printing on the edge of your buildplate. It's recommended to read these instructions: https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/knowledge-sharing/printed-model-warping. The following filament settings worked very well for me:
      • No cooling for the first 3 layers
      • Auxiliary part cooling fan speed 50%
  • Included in the print profile:
    • 10% infill with Adaptive Cubic pattern to decrease material usage
    • Sparse infill speed reduced to 75mm/s. After the 2000th layer of the 138% version, my entire Bambu A1 printer moved several centimeters in a few layers time because of the vibrations caused by printing the infill at high speed. Perhaps this limitation only applies to bed slinger printers
  • Make sure you have a full roll of 1kg of filament for the 138% version - you will need almost all of it
