Description
Here is a fully adjustable dragon, inspired from Clash of Clans!
This model has two special features:
1. The model can be attached/detached from its stand using 10 magnets (4 x 2 mm) so you can play with it and display it. The parts can be joined together relatively quickly and easily.
2. Nearly all of the coloured parts can be printed separately, so you do not need the AMS to have a colourful model.
On my model, the triangle skin design, claws, and eyes were painted on. However, if you have the AMS you can print all of these coloured features. There are two print profiles to choose from. One if you have AMS and one if you don't. If you print the one with AMS, there will be some waste from the purge filament but that generally happens with the AMS system. If you don't have AMS, there is an extra step where you need to glue the coloured wing inserts onto the wings. Don't forget that you are free to customise the colours and designs on the dragon in Bambu Studio.
The model is fully posable, which includes its wings, tail, arms/legs, and jaw.
I designed it so it requires as little support material as possible (1.47 g), without significantly affecting the aesthetics and functionality of the model. Reducing the amount of waste makes it more environmentally friendly and saves filament.
Many prototypes were made to ensure the parts fitted together and functioned well. I wanted it to be as easy as possible to put together so anyone can build it.
4 month update (19/05/2025):
The joints might start to loosen overtime when PLA is used, especially with ball joints. If this happens, just add a dab of glue into the wing and head joints.
Update (21/06/2025): The magnets should fit well now with lots of space for gluing. If you're using another slicer, check to see if the magnet holes were formed.
I hope you enjoy making this model!
Assembly instructions:
| 1. Insert 5 magnets into the holes underneath the dragon. Make sure that all are facing the same polarity. You can use a ruler to push them in more easily. | |
| 2. Insert the other 5 magnets into the holes in the stand. Make sure they are facing the opposite polarity to those in the dragon. | |
| 3. Insert the stand into the base. | |
| 4. Insert any 5 spikes into the top of the dragon. Push hard and they will click into place. | |
| 5. Glue the tail wings onto the tail, using a small amount of glue. | |
| 6. (Only for non-AMS). Glue the coloured wing inserts onto the wing. | |
| 7. Press the wing joints together. | |
| 8. Join the wings to the body. | |
| 9. Insert the last spike into the head. | |
| 10. Insert the lightning into the bottom of the head. This will be tight. |
| 11. Slide the jaw over the gaps in the sides of the head. | |
| 12. Join the head to the body. | |
| Finished! |
