A Set of 5 Unique Cubes: Fun Educational Activity
Here’s a simple yet engaging way to spark curiosity and discussion using cubes with unique properties:
1) Start with a Sorting Task
Place all 5 cubes on a table and challenge participants:
Sort those cubes by weight.
2) Measure and Compare
If you have a precise scale, weigh the cubes to identify the heaviest. Key observation: Three of the cubes have the same mass (two larger cubes and the heaviest of the same-sized ones).
3) Explore Buoyancy
Pick the three same-sized cubes and ask:
Which of these will float?
Test assumptions water.
4) Add a Twist with Layers
- Prepare a glass filled halfway with water and halfway with oil.
- Repeat the buoyancy test and observe how the cubes behave in the different layers.
5) Experiment with More Layers
If you have honey or corn syrup, create a three-layer liquid:
Honey → Water → Oil.
Test the cubes again and discuss their behavior in the denser liquid layers.

Print instructions
If you used print profile (or “Open im Bambu Lab” button) you dont have to do anything. If you downloaded STL's you'll have to setup print profile manually:
- 0.4 nozzle, 3 walls, 0.2 layer height
- Small cubes: 98%, 72%, 15%
- Medium cube: 35%
- Large cube: 9%
