Description

Keep your cables organized and easily identifiable with these custom labeled cable ties! I regularly work as a theatre tech and use these to distinguish my own equipment from other people's stuff.

The parametric script allows you to easily add an image or text to the label. You can also change the dimensions of both the label and the strap to suit your specific needs, and decide between permanent, reusable or combined attachment.

If you're often on the road or managing equipment across different locations, custom cable tags can be a real game-changer. They help you keep your cables organized, easily identifiable, and hassle-free, whether you're working from home, the office, or a job site. They're clean, practical, and designed to save you time, so you can focus on what really matters without dealing with tangled cords.

Printing

  1. Choose the right filament. The model was tested in TPE, and will likely work great in other flexible materials such as TPU and PETG. PLA is probably too brittle.
  2. Use the Customizer to generate your own design and export it as a .STL file.
  3. Download the supplied printing profile as a starting point. Open it in your slicer. Delete the default model. Import the .STL file with your custom design. Optionally change the print settings to your liking.
  4. Slice, print and enjoy!

Documentation

  1. Label Graphic

    1. Label Text
Enter a single line of text to be on the label. Leave empty to use SVG image.

    2. Label Font
If text is entered, choose the font for the text to use.

    3. Label Font Style
If text is entered, choose the font style for the text to use (e.g. italic or bold).

    4. SVG Image
Upload your image (e.g. a logo).
NOTE: It's recommended to expand and flatten all your paths, texts etc. Simple, lightweight files work best, both for rendering speed and due to the tiny size.

    5. Graphic Width
Set the width of your text or image in millimetres. The height adjusts automatically.

    6. Graphic Extrude
Set the extrusion height of your text or image in millimetres. Setting this value to 0 turns the extrusion into a cut out, like a stencil.
NOTE: When setting the value to 0, make sure your graphic has no floating regions. These will not be connected to anything, just like a regular stencil.

  2. Label Base

    1. Label Length
Set the length of the label in millimetres. The length of the strap is set separately. Adjust this value to fit your graphic (this won't happen automatically).

    2. Label Width
Set the width of the label in millimetres. The width of the strap is set separately. Adjust this value to fit your graphic (this won't happen automatically).

    3. Label Height
Set the height of the label and the strap in millimetres.
NOTE: Making this value smaller will make your print more flexible but decrease strength.

    4. Label Corner Radius
Set the label corner radius in millimetres.

  3. Main Strap

    1. Strap Ridges
Set the amount of ridges. This will decide the length of your strap.

    2. Strap Ridge Type
Choose between round or sharp ridges. Round is recommended for reusable ties, sharp for permanent attachment.

    3. Strap Width
Set the width of the strap in millimetres. This will also adjust the width of the ridges and the width of the hole.

    4. Strap Corner Radius
Set the inverse corner radius in millimetres where the strap(s) meets the label.

  4. Extra Strap

    1. Extra Strap
Optionally add an extra strap. This way you can both permanently attach a label, and use it as a reusable cable tie.

    2. Extra Strap Ridges
Set the amount of ridges for the extra strap. This will decide it's length.

    3. Extra Strap Ridge Type
Choose between round or sharp ridges. Round is recommended for reusable ties, sharp for permanent attachment. It's recommended to use a different ridge type for both the main strap and the extra strap.

    4. Extra Strap Width
Set the width of the strap in millimetres. This will also adjust the width of the ridges and the width of the hole.

    5. Extra Strap Spacing
Set the distance between the main strap and the extra strap in millimetres.
