Musical Marble Tree / Dice Tower

Version 2 now available here!! - New foliage design for better sound, and several improvements, including a new round case, which is also compatible with v1 foliage.

Version 1: Attention, for the newest base, trunk and case designs, start with profile 1, then print the foliage from either profile 2, 3, or 4!

A gravity-fed marble run with plates that produce different sounds as the marbles travel down the length of the trunk. Try changing the position and style of plates for different sound patterns, and use whatever colors you like!

Don't have marbles? Print some! Don't like marbles? Use dice! Don't have dice? Print some! Will it work with dice? It will work with these and these!

Each trunk segment has slots for 7 or 8 leaves, and you can use one, two, three, or all four trunk segments. The segments are numbered from the bottom up. To assemble, attach segment 1 to the base, segment 2 to 1, segment 3 to 2 and the top segment to 3. If you want a shorter tree, remove segments from the bottom. You can also attach the optional case below the base.

NEW! (2026/02/10) -  There is a new profile (#1) with improvements to the base, trunk, and storage case. 

• Start by printing the first two plates, to provide the new base and most of the trunk.
  • These are assembled in ascending order from bottom to top - 1 is connected to the base, then 2 is connected to the top of 1, then 3 is connected to the top of 2.
• You can now choose between two different styles for the top trunk section.
  • Choose plate 3 if you will only be using 20mm marbles, and want a hole to drop the marble into. 
  • Choose plate 4 if you want to use either 20mm or 30mm marbles, and would like to place the marble into the scoop, then give it a slight nudge to start the marble down the tree.
  • This is section 4, and is connected to the top of 3.
• After you have the base and trunks printed, continue printing the marbles and either leaves, petals, or paddles from the other profiles. 
• The base is taller, and now uses a snap-lock connector, eliminating one of the common points of failure with the original version. 
• The channel is now wide enough to accommodate marbles up to 30mm, and the top trunk section has been modified to support 30mm marbles as well.
• The trunks have all been changed to use snap-lock to eliminate the problem with over-tightening, causing alignment issues. 
• The cases all have a snap-lock system, so they remain securely closed when transporting, and no longer have the issue of the threaded connector twisting off.
• A fuzzy texture has been added to the outsides of the base and storage cases, to improve the appearance, and hide the layer lines.

Note: The petals, leaves and paddles print face down. When inserted into the trunk, the leaf and petal tabs should be on the left.

• Print Profiles:
  1. New Snap-Lock Base, Trunk, Storage - These models replace the ones in the first three profiles. Start here, then print the foliage from either of the first three profiles.
  2. Petals - Base, Trunk, Marbles, and Optional Case -  5 petals x 6 sizes
  3. Leaves - Base, Trunk, Marbles, and Optional Case - 5 leaves x 6 sizes
  4. Paddles - Base, Trunk, Marbles, and Optional Case - 1 paddle x 30 sizes
  5. Marbles - 20mm and 30mm marbles
• The first profile contains:
  • Required: Square Base
  • Required: Snap-lock Stem and Trunks
  • Optional:  Storage cases and handle
• The remaining three profiles contain:
  • Foliage: Petals, Leaves or Paddles
  • Marbles
  • Obsolete: Updated version of the following items can all be found on profile 1 now
    • Base
    • Trunk Segments - (optional washers to tighten the trunk segments, if necessary)
    • Optional Case Top (for storage and transport)
      • Space for 30 Petals (not compatible with Leaves or Paddles)
      • Screws into Base or Leaf Case Top

      • Space for 6 marbles and four trunk segments
      • Slides onto either Petal Case Top or Leaf Case Top

  • The petal, leaf and paddle plates come in six sizes, and include optional 20mm marbles
    • Each size produces a different sounds as the marbles travel down the length of the trunk
    • Optional Marbles print as two halves that snap together to form an imperfect sphere
    • Can mix and match colors
  • 600mm (nearly 24") fully assembled
    • No glue, magnets or tools required
    • All connections are either screwed together, or press-fitted
  • All plates are monochrome, and sized to fit on any Bambu printer
