Description
UPDATE 12/13/2025: I have received feedback that the blanket/mattress may be too thick for certain phones to charge though so I have added a Thin Mattress Top for both versions as well as a Thin Mattress Blanket.
UPDATE 4/25/2025: I have added a Apple Mag Safe version of the mattress. As well, I have widened the diameter of the ring in the regular mattress to accommodate other types of charging ring, not just the Bambu Lab kit.
UPDATE 2/15/2025: Switched to adaptive layering on the pillows to reduce stepping.
UPDATE 1/4/2025: Adjusted the supports on the Storage Frame footboard.
I received a couple wireless charging kits just before Christmas and my initial thought was to combine it with a Mag-Lev kit to create a floating phone bed charger, but weight restrictions on the Mag-Lev kit put that idea to rest pretty quickly. That's OK, I still had this idea for a wireless charging phone bed that is completely customizable, and that's what I have for you today.
The charger itself is actually housed inside the mattress, along with a few optional magnets to help keep the pillows and blanket from sliding around. This allows the charger to be easily swapped between frames. I've included two different frame styles as well as two different blanket styles. The “curved” blanket can be seen in the video at the bottom of the description.
Assembly is quick and easy as there isn't a ton of parts. Start by taking the two halves of the mattress, inserting four magnets in the top and mounting the charging coil to the bottom half using four M2x5 screws that are included in the wireless charging kit.
Once that's done, you can fit the two halves together and your mattress is complete. Technically it is a fully functional charger at this point, but you can upgrade your mattress by adding pillows, blankets or bed frames.
The blankets and pillows don't actually require assembly as the just rest on the mattress if used. If you're using the optional magnets to keep the pillows and blanket secure, be mindful of the magnets orientation before setting them.
The frames are super easy to assemble as well. For the Traditional frame, the rail slots into the headboard and footboard and you're good to go.
With the Storage Frame, there are a couple extra steps, but everything is really easy. We'll start by assembling the drawers. Take Drawer Handle 1, insert it into the drawer and rotate 90 degrees in either direction, it doesn't matter. Then take Drawer Handle 2 and snap it into place. Repeat steps for the second drawer.
Now take the Storage Frame Footboard and drop the two drawers into it.
From there, take a bed rail and the Storage Frame Headboard and connect them as seen below. Unlike the Traditional frame, the footboard for the Storage Frame slots into the headboard as well as the rail.
