Description
I was looking to replace the cardboard border for my original 4-player Settlers of Catan (Mayfair 4th Edition) that got bent, broken and warped from years of abuse. For me personally, I preferred the round border that crusheen created over on Thingsverse. It original is a little too thick for my liking so I reduced the z-axis from 4mm to 2.7mm and added white pips to show what intersections the ports affect.
I figured while I was at it, I'd merge a removable dice tower directly to the border to try to keep those errant dice rolls from wiping out game pieces on the board. The Tower is completely removable from the border for easier storage, unlike the first version I made. For the dice tower I used the modular one created by LevyTek and for the base to connect the dice tower to the border I used (and modified to slim it down and fit better with the border) a remix by Sinum that was made specifically for LevyTek's tower.
NOTE: This print is NOT suitable for the A1 Mini. I don't know if the larger pieces with the built-in dice tower base will fit on an A1 as I don't have one to test with.
Printing Instructions:
** To reduce the risk of warping, allow the print plate to cool before removing pieces (especially the border pieces).
** If you don't want a textured dice tower, disable fuzzy skin for the Tower pieces on Plate 3.
** If you want a textured finish for the water border, enable fuzzy skin (contour .3/.3) for all border pieces and disable ironing.
Assembly:
Alternate between the 1 port and 2 ports pieces until you have a full circle. Use the hex tiles and port tokens from the original game to build the game board.
