Outdoor / Garage / Potty Training Urinal

When we bought our house, there was a milk jug with the bottom cut off zip tied to the wall in the back corner of the pole barn with a hose glued to the cap going outside and I laughed about it when we first saw it.  Since then, I think I've used it 5000 times and decided it was time to design something up that was a little better to look at and less leaky than the old jug.  

 

I've got two version because when I printed the first one both my dad and brother decided they wanted one for their pole barns, so I optimized the design to use less filament and print faster for theirs.  

 

I'm also going to try using it for our toddler to try to help with his potty training this spring so MULTIPLE WINS! 😂 

 

Uses supports and brim around the edges to keep it down.  I had to add a brim to mine because an earlier print failed because one of the corners lifted up.  You may have to play around with this depending on the material you use.  Below are my settings and comments:

Settings:

• Layer Height:  0.28 layer height helps with strength and reduces risk of leak paths - Uploaded print profiles are designed for functionality not appearance.  If you have a 0.6 or 0.8 nozzle this part would work just as well printing at higher layer heights with those nozzles.  If you would like a higher resolution print with lower layer height, please reach out.
  • VLH, layer height modifier or lower overall layer height can improve the inside corner surface finish at the top of the print on the inside
• Infill:  10% cross-hatch
• Wall loops and Shell Layers:  4 wall loops, 8 top shell, 4 bottom shell - this can be optimized for faster prints and less material but I chose to be as close to 100% as possible for durability
• Orientation:  Part is designed and orientated in the profiles to use as minimal supports with the most optimal surface finish possible.  Other orientations may be applied but may require more supports and lead to witness marks on the part.
• Supports:  All supports needed are included in print files and painted on already to make the parts shown in the pictures.  Part has been designed to be able to be printed at a 45 degree angle and eliminate support interfaces needed on the inside of the urinal.  The outer edges have a curve to them off the build plate and supports have been added for those surfaces.
• Materials:  I used PETG.  Nylon, ABS, ASA could all be used as well.  I do not know how PLA will perform so if you print in PLA please let me know how it goes!!
