Description
I really like Wariat's “Instax mini photo holder for wall” model, but I didn't want to have to find and paint a 10x30 mm wooden strip to complete the project. I designed a modular 3D printable “beam” to act as the wooden strip instead. The beam (about 31 cm in length) has dovetail connections on each end so you can print as many as you need and attach them together to create a 10x30 strip to match your needs. You could even use slicer cuts and merges to customize the length of the beam to your exact specifications.
I've included 3 tolerances for the beam dovetail depending on your printer's calibration/filament/etc. Tight fit, regular fit, and loose fit. I recommend starting off by testing regular and going from there. Loose fit will require glue.
There are also 2 end caps to slide onto the exposed beam ends to cover up unused connections.
Additionally, I wanted a way to easily mount 2 rows of photos without having to make extra holes in my wall. I created 2 variations of a double mount to solve this problem. The first variation includes a screw hole above the top bar, just like the original model. The other eliminates the screw hole and mounting tab entirely so you can use something like 3M command strips to attach it to the wall cleanly instead of screws.
