不倒翁(Roly-poly toy)是一種有趣的玩具,無論怎麼推,它都會自動回到直立狀態。這種現象背後的物理原理主要與「重心」和「穩定性」有關:

  1. 重心的設計
    不倒翁的底部裝有較重的材料,讓整體重心位於靠近底部的最低點。這樣設計能確保當不倒翁被推倒時,重力會產生一個回復力矩,推動它回到直立位置。
  2. 圓弧形底座
    不倒翁的底座是弧形的,這樣當它傾斜時,接觸點會移動,讓重心向低處移動,形成回復的傾向。
  3. 穩定平衡

Instructions for Printing

  1. Based on your coin magnification model, it is recommended to set the diameter to coin diameter + 0.2 mm.
  2. For using a coin as the weight, the default hole diameter for coin placement is 20.2 mm.
  3. Whenever possible, use metals with higher density for optimal performance.

Metal Density Recommendation (Descending Order):

  • Copper > Nickel > Iron > Zinc > Aluminum

Roly-poly Toy Principle

A roly-poly toy is an amusing toy that automatically returns to an upright position no matter how it is pushed. The underlying physical principle involves center of gravity and stability:

Center of Gravity Design

The bottom of a roly-poly toy is equipped with heavier materials, ensuring the overall center of gravity is positioned near the lowest point at the base. This design ensures that when the toy is pushed over, gravity generates a restoring torque, which pushes the toy back to its upright position.

Curved Base

The base of the toy is curved. When tilted, the contact point with the ground shifts, causing the center of gravity to move towards a lower position, creating a tendency to restore balance.

Stable Equilibrium

When the roly-poly toy stands upright, its center of gravity is at the lowest possible point, representing a state of stable equilibrium. When disturbed by external forces, the center of gravity rises, but the toy naturally returns to the lowest point.
