Description
Simple, light (a little over 10g each) and elegant corners to quickly build a simple light box for your photos with some 5 mm foam board.
If you search for “light box” on this site, you will find a lot of irrelevant results (at least they are to me), and “photography box” is a little better, but I find the models either too bulky or too limited, and I wanted something that I can quickly and easily disassemble when I do not need it. I liked the idea of “box corners”, but not the available models (I really did not want to cut any corners), so I designed my own tetrahedron.
These corners are based on and tested with 5 mm foam board (or foamcore; I have always called it cadapack). With the 1 mm walls, the slits between two orthogonal planes are approximately 1.5 mm. (Close to sqrt(2) mm, I guess.) I think other 5 mm material may fit as well, but I have not tested that. Ping me if you would like another version of this model, or if you want to see a lightweight version without the rounded tip.
Note: The photos on this page were made with my phone in my brand new but not completely finished light box, without proper lighting and with —for a white object— sub-optimal white background. (I cut three triangles with sides of 100 mm for the photos; the light box itself is based on A3.)
This is what my simple light box looks like, without the light (fixed to the ceiling of the box) turned on.
