Summary

If you are in for a good model building challenge, this may be just the one for you.

“Michel”, that’s how people in Hamburg affectionately call the St. Michaels church. It is one of the five main churches of Hamburg, with a tall, distinctely shaped church tower which is visible from all over the city and is an integral part of the Hamburg skyline, a landmark, a popular tourist spot and viewpoint. And Michel is a genuine Hamburg icon, the tower silhouette reproduced on tourist merchandise and Hamburg publications over and over.

The model is in 1:250 scale. I designed it in Tinkercad, the result is a complex model with 440 parts in 29 STL files, so printing and assembly will take some time. I have printed my copies on a Bambu Lab X1C printer using PLA filament which worked well without support. I wanted the model to be realistic and detailed yet easy to print without support, so there are some compromises here and there, especially in minor details and small parts. I tried to catch the overall spirit of the building.
The joints and part fittings are designed with tolerances of 0,25mm, so they should fit well together with some margins. It is not a tight fit, which means you will have to glue the parts together – like in most plastic model kits.

A PDF with assembly instructions is included.

Enjoy.

Update 2025-01-25: New version of file Tower White Parts.stl added, parts for top frieze were missing in old version
