Kumiko-Inspired Drink Coasters (No AMS Required)

Kumiko originated in Japan during the Asuka period (6th–8th centuries) and was traditionally used in shoji screens and decorative woodworking. The hallmark of Kumiko is its interlocking geometric patterns, created without nails or glue—just skill and patience. While the patterns in these coasters are printed rather than painstakingly joined by hand, they retain the visual harmony and intricate detail that make Kumiko so captivating. Perfect for protecting your surfaces while sparking conversation, this coaster set merges timeless artistry with sleek, modern style, making it a unique addition to any space.

• 90mm square
• 7mm thick

Printing instructions:

• Due to the intricate nature of Kumiko designs, ensure your printer's build plate is clean and free of any oils or residue to ensure proper bed adhesion.
• Ironing is turned on for top surfaces in the print profile to give the coasters a more polished appearance, but if you desire a faster print, ironing can be turned off in the slicer.
• Bezels are common to all coasters. Patterns are printed separately and snap into the bezels to minimize color swaps and wasted filament. A1 Mini users, use the A1 Mini profile and print the Bezels plate 2x.
• The tolerances on the pattern and bezels are fairly tight to ensure a snug fit. These tolerances were perfect in my test prints, but you may wish to test a single pattern and bezel to ensure a good fit with the printer and filament of your choice.
