Description

This is a more spherical version of my Monster Egg Puzzle using the five way supportless sphere puzzle design rather than the four way. It has eight pieces to print and put together. I have found that I rather like using it was a hand massaging tool. I printed it here using a heat based color changing filament. As I massage my hands it changes colors. When printed at size 100% the pieces can be quite snug, if that is what you are looking for. However, if you want easier fits, I have scaled the prints in the slicer like 160% for example. I would print test pieces before printing the entire thing in one go to find what works best for you. It is designed with a 0.1 mm tolerance gap between pieces and grooves at size 100%. I have found that if a printer prints too close to the bed and produces elephant feet from the initial squish that the pieces are hard to get intially together. If that is the case, I would just exacto the edges printing on the plate so that they are more exacting. I printed this example one at 160% and with 6 wall count rather than my usual 3 so that it would be more sturdy preventing the protrussions from breaking off as I knead my hands really hard. This model was made in Meshmixer and converted to its supportless puzzle format in Fusion 360.
