The Kraken, also known as the Bane among the Clans, is a Clan OmniMech originally designed to unleash devastating long-range firepower on the battlefield. Introduced in 3054, the Kraken is the ultimate expression of brute force, sacrificing speed and maneuverability for unmatched firepower, range, and durability. At 100 tons, it is one of the heaviest OmniMechs fielded by the Clans, standing alongside icons like the Dire Wolf (Daishi) and King Crab in terms of sheer destructive potential. Development HistoryThe Kraken was conceived by Clan Snow Raven as a "siege engine" designed to break through the toughest defenses and eliminate hardened targets from extreme range. Snow Raven engineers prioritized modularity to allow the Kraken to carry a wide variety of weapon loadouts, enabling it to adapt to various combat situations. While the Kraken’s limited speed makes it vulnerable to faster opponents, its exceptional firepower more than compensates when deployed with adequate support. The Kraken’s release coincided with increased tensions among the Clans, including heightened hostility during the early years of the Inner Sphere's exposure to Clan technology. The Bane became infamous during the Battle of Tukayyid, where it served in limited numbers, raining fire upon Com Guard defenses and clearing paths for faster, more agile Clan mechs.
