Description
In early 3073 a Diamond Shark exploration flotilla pried open a sealed Society cache on the edges of the Babylon system. Alongside crates of prototype hardware they discovered an unmarked ninety-five ton chassis, unmistakably a Bull Shark hauled from some forgotten battlefield. Clan technicians saw an opportunity. They married the recovered nova-grade command and electronic warfare suite, a pair of pristine Hyper-Assault Gauss-30 barrels, and an improved ATM-9 launcher to the rugged frame. Four Clan ER PPCs preserved the Bull Shark’s trademark broadside while sixteen double heat sinks and full CASE II kept the beast from cooking itself. The sole prototype rolled from the repair bay in January with ocean-blue shark stripes and the callsign “Mako.” Live-fire exercises against Society holdouts proved brutal and decisive; the ’Mech shredded targets at every range and shrugged off return fire thanks to its reinforced ammo bays. Success drew unwanted attention. Cloud Cobra auditors labeled the hybrid machine a violation of technician doctrine and ordered it impounded. Rather than surrender their prize, the Sharks sold both chassis and data package to a passing Sea Fox caravan under the veil of night. From there the Mako vanished into mercenary hands. Reports place it on New Avalon during the closing battles of the Jihad and later in the employ of a Periphery command that guards mining worlds along the Taurian border. Whether sighted on the front line or whispered about in tavern lore, the BSK-73X endures as a gleaming example of Clan ingenuity and opportunism—one shark that still bites hard long after its creators walked away.
