Whilst the University has undergone the long process of rebuilding both its campus and faculty, Big Hat Harrison has been wrapped up in his own mumblings. Many say even during the time when Dragonblight gripped the University and drove it to ruin, he did not leave his study. Some wonder if he is even a living being, or some kind of conjuration, for none have seen what lies beneath the hat. Among the most memorable characters present at the University of Canos, Big Hat Harrison would be the first to pop into the minds of most students and faculty. An eccentric personality, his particular field of study and teaching is simply, “the Unknown,” a rather broad stroke of study that might leave one scratching their head as to what it may actually encompass. The answer is: everything. From why leaves grow brown in winter to the ancient histories of the Age of Creation and proving the creation myth, Big Hat Harrison takes all unknowns of the world and places them under his jurisdiction.  His classes are far from the norm for the University, seen less as class and more as live theatre. The eccentric Professor fills his lecture hall with arcane wonders and terrors as he conducts experiments live in front of his students, some with profound, others with horrific effects. It is for this that his classes have earned a reputation as a “mystery box” in that a student will never know what they are going to get. There is no syllabus, no exams or anything of the ordinary and droll curriculum that the University usually pushes. Classes are marked in participation, with Big Hat Harrison requiring all students who partake in his class to partake in his experiments. For some this is seen as an easy pass. For others, impossible. Still, he is a wonder that many in the University consider a staple of its identity. Though, in the twenty years he has taught within the University, none have seen his face. A different excuse is given anytime he is asked, whether it be that he is stricken with mumps, has a flesh-eating disease or is dreadfully ugly, he will find a new reason to not show his visage. Though whatever lies beneath the hat and clothes, is an extremely powerful wizard, one that many people underestimate, or simply do not even assume him to be. During the Dragonblight, Big Hat Harrison was able to create a sanctuary within the condemned University, protecting and saving the lives of almost a hundred students and staff. Some wonder if the prattling Professor is merely an act, one made to leave potential enemies with lower guards around him.
