Description
Got tired of having to deal with poorly design Christmas Tree Stands so I decided to make some improvements to an old commercial unit I had kicking around. My stand originally consisted of four L-shaped bolts to secure to the tree trunk. The bolt side facing the trunk would dig into the tree as you tightened the bolts. As a result, the tree clamping never became super tight (sponge like effect) and would loosen up as the tree settled in & began to dry up. It was also very difficult to get a good torque on the bolts due to the short 2” L-shaped portion of the bolt. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much to grab onto & it would often hurt your hand when trying to get them really tight.

Special Notes:
The design is for 5/16 inch bolts. Resize the design to accommodate different bolt sizes.
Added buttons at the tree end of the bolts to better clamp the tree trunk. The trunk buttons help in two ways: 1) they provide a larger surface area thus improving retention; 2) they don’t dig into the tree so are able to provide a consistent, reliable & secure hold.
The second improvement was to add larger grip handles at the L-portion of the bolts. This greatly facilitates tightening the bolts by hand.
