Push the connector into the retainer shell until the plug end is flush with the circular hole at the front of the shell. You may need to use a small vise to gently push it into place. Do not hammer in otherwise you might damage the connector. Your adapted connector is now ready for a wall or panel installation.
Installing DC powered window blinds and shades:
IMPORTANT: The following installation instructions only apply to LOW VOLTAGE DC WIRES! Please do not use with AC!
Low Voltage wires should be 14 to 18 AWG in size, and can be solid or stranded conductors.
Using a 3/4" Forstner bit (or equivalent), drill a precise hole at the top right hand corner of the window opening, coming in from the side window jam centered 1" down and 1" out from the window pane. Pass the wires coming from the central DC power supply through the hole, making sure there is some extra slack in the wire; i.e. approximately 4-6 inches. Please note that if your shade has a left motor/receiver, the hole should be drilled on the top left-hand side instead of the right hand side.
Strip both positive & negative wires coming from the central DC power supply by about 1/4" back. Push the wires into the Barrel Jack to Screw Terminal Adaptor located on the Retainer Shell then screw them in place. Pay particular attention to the wire & connection polarities; i.e. the barrel connector has "+" & "-" markings near the screw terminals for reference.
Once your connections are complete, firmly push the connector assembly into the hole (by hand) so that it is sitting flush with the window jam or drywall. Do not hammer the shells in place to avoid damaging the connector! If the shell is going into drywall, a small amount of latex based caulking can be used around the inside rim of the shell prior to pushing it into place. This completes the blind connection installation.
