Description

These models were extracted from a set of two CT scans (covering the chest and abdomen respectively) I had recently (Age 21) that could be useful to teach human anatomy. As the two were done simultaneously, I combined the data from them to obtain better results and more whole body parts. I thought it was quite an interesting project to extract the 3D models from the CT scan data. Not all of the models in this set are 3D printable via FDM, but I think a significant portion should be given you support it properly.

I previously extracted models from my prior CT scans and and older MRI, with this latest one being taken shortly after I had surgery to remove most of my colon (only the rectum and sigmoid colon were preserved). This was done due to my Crohn's Disease which mostly affected my colon and had resulted in a stricture forming and generally unhealthy tissue in that region. It should be noted that the colon is inflamed as a result of undergoing the surgery and due to my pre-existing Crohn's. The scan was taken just before I was discharged to investigate the cause of nightly fevers I was having, with some uninfected fluid found in my abdomen through this. While I was on a medication for my Crohn's called Rinvoq (upadacitinib), I was also told to stop this on the day of the surgery and had not re-started the medication by the time this scan was taken (about a week after the surgery).

All models are 1:1 scale, directly extracted from the scan.

The models were made using a software called 3D Slicer with the aid of an add-in called Total Segmentator which extracted the 3D model data from the CT scan data fed to it in DICOM format. All models were smoothed and cleaned up to remove any small islands.
