Description
I acquired MilesCraft ToolStand and decided to turn it into a heat-set insert press. I purchased a cheap soldering iron and heat-set install tips from Amazon and got to work. I and existing model on thingiverse they replaced the head of the ToolStand for holding the soldering iron but I didn't want to take the whole thing apart if I decided to use it as a press for a rotary tool so I came up with plate clamp which is screwed down with some m3 machine screws. This did require me to drill through the ToolStand's mount but it's aluminum so wasn't too difficult.
To do this I made two clamps and used one as the sacrificial guide for drilling the through holes.
Next I replaced the sheet metal side plate with a holder for the different heat-set tips.
