Description
I recently upgraded one of my welders to a more versatile, higher output unit. I ended up buying new tungstens in more sizes than I used with my old welder, and I also also moved my welding accessories into a different tool cabinet. Since the packaging tungstens come in isn't super convenient, I made these Gridfinity trays as the first step to organizing my TIG drawer.
These are a 1x4 tray; new full-length tungsten is longer than this, so they will overhang the end a little at first. I didn't see much point in wasting filament on a 1x5 tray, since they are going to get shorter over time as they are used. There are two versions of the tray. The first has no dividers, and the second has a divider down the middle, creating two spaces for tungstens. These could be used to hold different types or thicknesses of tungsten, but how I intend to use them is to divide my sharp tungstens from those needing to be sharpened. So I will have separate trays in the drawer for each diameter of tungsten.
I recommend printing these in colors matching the color code for whatever type of tungstens you will be keeping in them. Like my other Gridfinity models, the base is altered to accept 6x3 magnets as a press fit, with the upper surface of the magnet holes modified to make the slicer bridge across correctly for a clean result.
