ENGINEERS TURNERS CUBE SCULPTURE

October 31, 2024
Description
An apprentice machinist usually created a classic Turner's cube. This design gives the illusion of a multi-color print where in fact it's an assembled multi-part print that allows the design to be almost seamless.
This can be used in aid to understand the principles of creating a turners CUBE with a 3D Understanding prior to machining on CNC.
- The cube dimensions are 120mm.
- Layer height is 0.2mm
- I used tree supports but I believe standard would also work and possibly give better quality on overhangs. Make sure there is support from the halfway mark of the circles otherwise, they may get top-heavy and get knocked by the head. (It happened to mine)
- Paint on support in Orcaslicer is great for the above.
Assemble
- Insert smallest cube 4 into cube 3 then plus 4x corner pieces. (SEE images)
- Insert cube 4 & 3 into cube 2 and connect corner tabs to lock in place
- Insert all cubes into cube 1 and add locking corner pieces.
- You can glue them in place, if tight fit shave the tabs with a blade (be careful)
