Peopoly Lancer Longboi mod for Voron CrownCooler

01.2025 update - after testing 3010 version for a while I was getting heatcreep issues with PETG with higher amount of retractions. After some consideration I decided to go even smaller and make a better focused and enclosed duct with 2510 fan. Also upgraded the rear piece to be printable without supports, front still needs them to the inside. Benefits are unchanged rigidity, even more less weight by few grams and more space below the heatbreak for more part-cooling duct options. Also fixed the air bleed for the 4010 heatbreak fan duct and improved the flow for it. Also added the final version of the toolhead as .step file.

As of 04.01.2025 I do not update this model any longer as I'm going to cut the Lancer heatbreak radiator to make it into same length as Vz Goliath. The mount pattern and spacing are identical, just needs some longer drilled holes and retap after cutting the top section with smaller diameter off. Doing so makes this toolhead more accessible to people who want lightweight CPAP toolhead for Voron that can use Goliath and TAP at the same time as there are not many such options out there.

I wanted high-flow hotend for my printer, but in EU, the Goliath and Chube are insanely priced so eventually I heard that Peopoly sells their hotend separately. I decided to get my hands on one and eventually install it. I knew also that I was going to move away from Stealthburner but because of TAP I needed something that still uses this probing system - CrownCooler was the choice.

All testfitting and modelling is done with using Cartographer CNC toolhead mount that weighs 26 grams. Taking into account it's weight, the printed parts with heat inserts, Lancer Long hotend, heatbreak fan and M3 hardware are 125 grams, totalling the weight with CNC mount to 151  grams without the extruder (about 148gr with 3010 version). In the .step file there is the original and official CrownCooler part-cooling duct, however I decided to use the beta-release duct that's available from the linked Github page below. Note that the duct might need some post-processing as the vent holes are fairly tiny, few on mine were closed so I used 1mm drill to get them breathe again.

Removed the changelog as I feel it has reached it's final form as of today - I printed the parts out of Spectrum ASA-X CF15 and compared to old white ABS parts printed with .6 nozzle, the new pieces printed with .4 nozzle are 6 grams lighter.

List of hardware I decided to use to make the toolhead a bit more stiff:
4x M3x8 or M3x10 to mount the Peopoly Lancer Longboi to the two halves of the main toolhead pieces, can be flatheads or regular interhal hexheads as there is room for about 4mm between extruder mount and the hotend mount;
2x M3x12 for the extruder mounts;
2-4 M3x8 for the fan, two bolts are enough but for aesthetics you can put in all four;
2x M3x30 for bottom two bolts that tie everything together, also hold the part cooling duct in place;
2x M3x14 for top two bolts that tie extruder bracket and hotend front piece with heatbreak cooling together;
1x M3x6 or M3x8 to secure top half of the cooling duct on the side;
2x M3x20 to tie two main pieces for the hotend together.

3mm hex key with ball tip is highly recommended, do not use screwdriver with replaceable tips as it will not fit to tighter spaces. Also depending of your printer tune you might need a 5mm, 3mm and 2.5mm drill bits to get the hex key, bolts or Lancer's tube through the holes without too much force (5mm for hotend filament tube, 3mm for most bolt and tool paths and 2.5mm for extruder mounting holes which you can actually drill through the piece). A dremelt with a sanding tip also comes handy for filing down a tiny bit of the heat insert in the heatbreak radiator channel.
